“The coming insurrection will not be semiotic but will grow and gain strength through proximities between bodies, between spirits, between dances”
— Marten Spanberg,
Concept and direction by: Sam Chester
Performed and Devised by: WAAPA Graduating Actors 2022
This performance explored the powerful intersection of emotion and politics through the lens of PROTEST.
Inspired by choreographer Marten Spanberg’s provocative statement, “Emotion and politics, well they need not be separate. For the greatest change has come from the greatest passion,” we delve into the raw, transformative power of human sentiment in driving social change.
This work was performed days before the world shutdown in 2020.
